So I was a bad, bad blogger and never posted pictures of the lovely event Torrid put on to show off their new denim fit, Stiletto. I recently received a pair of the Stiletto fit courtesy of Torrid, so I thought it was a perfect time to do a recap of the preview party as well as show you how awesome this denim fit is! I also need to say, “Thank you, thank you, thank you!” to Dani at DIY Fatshion for passing on her invite to me so that I could attend this event!

Nicole, Olivia, and I walked to the venue together, which was a breath of fresh air after having to deal with taxis all week. I think we were around the first ones there, and we were able to immediately speak with Katherine, Torrid’s Social Media Specialist, and Jennifer, Torrid/Hot Topic’s Director of Communications. All of Torrid’s representatives were incredibly friendly, and they had racks of denim for us to look and try on. Of course, being me, one of the first things I did was accidentally bump into a guy with a tray, which sent food flying. I really know how to make an entrance, right? Anyway! Here are the highlights:

Nicole, Sam, and I enjoying a chat. Sam’s dress was actually a skirt pulled up. Love it!

Meeting Kristina of The Chubby Cruiser and Malynda of The Phatshion Peacock

Olivia and Kristina cracking us all up

Can you tell how Kristina feels about her Stiletto jeans?

Trying on the Stiletto Ankle Zip jeans. They actually didn’t zip up all the way that day! Luckily, that wasn’t a problem when I received my pair to keep.

Director of Communications, Jennifer Vides

I was wearing Torrid’s Black Luxe Skinny jeans. Love them!

The party was a lot of fun, and it gave me a chance to talk more with bloggers who I had just met or known about for a long time. Even though the Stiletto jeans didn’t fit me perfectly at the showing, I was excited to receive my pair at home, and to my surprise they fit perfectly. I received the Ankle Zip style, and unfortunately, the regular Broadway Stiletto jean (which I think is the slightest bit longer) is not available in a size 28 online. Hopefully it will show up soon so I can purchase a pair!

I was having a relaxing day at home and out on the boat, so  paired my ankle zip Stiletto jeans with a simple black tube top from Torrid and then a lace overlay also from Torrid. The lace top originally had tassels, but I snipped those off to get a more contrasting crop top. The Stiletto jeans are perfect for relaxing or being on the go. They are stretchy and light, but not so stretchy and light that you feel like you’re not wearing denim.. ya know what I mean? I’ve worn this pair a couple times now, and they don’t lose their shape, which is a quality you don’t find often in plus-size denim!

The Stiletto Ankle Zip Skinny jean is a slightly lighter color than I usually wear. It’s a nice change to my wardrobe with its slight fading/whiskering and ankle zip detail.

Being 5’4″, these jeans hit me directly on my ankle, whereas some bloggers have been showing it above their ankle. I love both looks, and  I like to wear my length with high heels to elongate my ankles. I’ve also found that these jeans are really easy to cuff at the bottom if you want them slightly shorter.

My favorite part of the fit of these jeans is that they actually fit my bum properly! No gaping at the back; no shimming down (and me pulling them up) throughout the day. And the pockets are the appropriate size too! It seems like common sense stuff, but I very rarely find jeans with all of these qualities!

Well, those are my two cents on the Stiletto fit denim at Torrid. I definitely recommend them if you’re into this kind of cut, and you should order your regular size.

Thank you, Torrid, for the wonderful time at your event and for these chic Stiletto skinnies!

What do you think of the Stiletto fit?

    1. I’d say true to size. They are stretchy, but in the “I’ll easily glide over all of your curves” versus “I’ll wear out and get loose and frumpy”. lol, hope that makes sense! I will say, I don’t ALWAYS fit into Torrid’s denim. The harder the fabric, the less likely my bum and stomach are going to make it. I think everyone put down their normal size, and they seemed happy with the results.

  1. Love the jeans on you! I got my first pair of skinny jeans from Torrid this year & I love them! I try to stay away from “trendy” denim, but I would give the zipper ankle jeans a try!

    1. I hear you on that. Luckily these jeans just have a little touch of something rather than a lot. I currently have lots of colored jeans that I’m not sure what to do about. Ahhhh…victim of trends.

      1. I see lots of colored jeans in the fashion magazines these days. I say a pair of light pink jeans in one and I sooo wanted them but they were 125 dollars. No jean is worth that! I would be so afraid of staining them when I wore them and the reason I wear jeans is to be relaxed and casual. Besides, they weren’t the plus size kind. You know, those supposed to appeal to the size 2? But I oohed and ahhed all the same.

  2. You look so cute in these pants! When I saw the promo ad I instantly fell inlove, but wasn’t quite sold on if they would fit or not. It’s such a struggle to find a good pair of jeans! So when you mentioned that the fit was just right and wouldn’t gap at the back it was like you were talking directly to me. Lol. Guess I’ll be placing my order soon! Thanks love. Xo

    1. You’ll have to let me know how they work for you! At the event, there were girls with all different kinds of shapes, and they really did all look good in these jeans!

  3. Love the photos! Looks like you had a great time at the event, and I’d totally make an entrance too by knocking into a guy with a tray of food, lol! Looks like you recovered though!

That being said, I LOVE the Stiletto Skinny Jeans! I have the black ones that I wear for work (and god they’re so comfortable) and the ankle zip ones too! Its so refreshing to find jeans that fit and that are sexy in larger sizes. Not to mention I have dancers thighs and runner’s calves so finding pants at ALL that fit me properly is a process that usually involves tears. Thank god for Torrid! 🙂

    1. It really is hard! Especially since a lot of plus size jeans have extra things added to them, like zippers every where and funky pocket patterns. These are sleek and chic. Perfect jeans!

  4. You look amazing….as always 🙂 Where did you get that blue top? Is it Kiyonna? Looks wonderful on you!

  5. I might try them, though I’ve been crushed by Torrid’s denim in the past. I can get them up, but have never gotten a single pair on and closed, sadly. They look great on you!

  6. I love that you got to go, all the pic’s u r sharing w/ us, & that super outfit with the white top! After you raved about them so much, I clicked on your link … sigh. I can’t do buttons w/ my fingers, so no go for me, but with your great review, Rebecca, I was willing to consider $58 for a pair of pants 🙂

  7. Don’t worry about bumping into the guy with the tray and sending food flying, it happens to everyone, trust me. Some of us are just slightly more accident prone than others.

As to the jeans, they look great on you. I think I may have to try a pair of skinny jeans now–I’ve been too afraid to thus far, but the more I see them on women with curves the more I’m tempted 🙂

  8. I love the top on you. If a pair of black jeans are worn with it, you could have the illusion that you have on a crop top. Great pics, by the way. Good luck with your new job!

  9. Yay! I’m glad you had a great time at the event! And those jeans are awesome! On me they’d definitely be cropped, but still super cute! I haven’t bought a pair of Torrid jeans in a long time (cuz they last for-ev-er) but I might have to invest in a new pair for fall. 😉

  10. I need to try these on. I have such issues with TRUE skinny jeans because of my unproportionally huge calves. I was bummed trying on Lucky brand the other day. Maybe these will work!

  11. That looked like such a fun event! I’m glad you had fun and got to check out a variety of denims. I love the blue blouse you wore. It looks very soft and luxurious.

  12. Great review, loved all the pics you posted both of the event and of the jeans. I am dying to know where you found that gorgeous blue top. Such a lovely color!
