I am a 25-year-old part-time writing instructor and part-time technical writer. My love of writing led me to blogs, which led me to a wonderful group of women carving a space for themselves on the internet. The fatshion blogging community has opened my eyes to the confidence, power, and joy in embracing yourself as you are. I’m so excited to offer my voice here, whether it ends up being a soft echo or a loud roar. I am interested in all things involving plus-size/fatshion clothing, beauty products, and fat/body acceptance.

Please feel free to contact me via twitter or my e-mail to chat :)

I have thought you were beautiful since the moment I first saw you, sweetie. (Not to mention, funny, talented, smart and caring). I’ve always been proud to be your aunt. Guess I’ll have to follow this blog–I can use the “lessons to be learned”; now if I can just find the “follow” button! :)

Hi Rebecca, your blog is a real inspiration and a refreshing read! I work for a plus size clothing label in NZ and wondered if you could contact me regarding blogging for us? Take a look at our site and get back to me on marketing@longisland.co.nz. Many thanks, Kay

I’m so excited to have found your blog–I’m a UNC student and I’m usually reading blogs from girls who aren’t from NC! What a great thing you are doing here. Keep it up!

    • February 6, 2012 3:07 pm

Hey Jess! That’s so exciting! I rarely meet people from NC, and they are always in different cities than me. I’m hoping to do some type of event over the summer in Charlotte, so keep your eyes peeled for it and hopefully you can make a trip or something :)

hi ! i´m an Austrian student, 21 years old ans i have size S (36) ! I really love your style and the way you mix your clothes ! Really great ! I know it´s not very easy for a plus size woman to find nice things to wear but you really do a great job ! For my opinion, you are one of the best dressed persons and your style is awesome.

    best wishes,

    chrisi

    Hi there,

I’m not plus size (far from it) but I think your blog is the one of the ‘chic’est and most interesting that I’ve read thus far!

I wish you will with your academic/professional endeavours.

I just stumbled upon your blog. I’m a mom and i hope my daughter can grow up having an amazing body image like you. You have great sense of style, love all the outfits! Thank you for spreading the message to girls that beauty doesn’t come in one size.

    • April 12, 2012 9:16 pm

Thank you, J! I definitely encourage you to promote body positivity as she grows up. I know that the things my mom says about me mean way more than the rest of the world :)

I agree with all of the above. The picture that you chose for this page is fantastic, and I love the gold/black combo.

Thought I’d ask if you’ve ever heard of http://holyclothing.com/index.php/. I’ve been following them on FB for a while, and the clothes are amazing. I’m enjoying your blog!

Well I know it must be flattering to know that I spent half a day reading all your blog and checking out your fashion statements you have made for yourself. Its a damn shame you live 2 states under me because I would scoop you up in a heart beat. Absolutely stunning! You really got it going on :) Perhaps one day I may be blessed with the privilege to take you out sometime, if I’m lucky ;)

Hi! I’m from Brazil, but i’m living in Los Angeles for about two years now. I’ve always felt misfitted and different from everyone else since i’m plus size, but it was after finding blogs like yours and “A Well-Rounded Venture” that I figured it out that I can be beautiful and powerful in my own body. I read your blog for months now, but it was only today that I decided to read the “About” and it makes me smile that you say “The fatshion blogging community has opened my eyes to the confidence, power, and joy in embracing yourself as you are.” because that is exactly what happened to me! Sorry for my bad english and thank you :)

Yes! A lot of women have experienced what you are going through. Believe me, I still struggle some times, but seeing other women looking fabulous reminds me that it’s about attitude and not our bodies :)

I found your blog via Evans! Can I just say I admire your confidence and sense of style. I’m also a plus size and after having 3 children (2 of them twins), I’ve often been stumped on how to dress in a way to make me feel good. You have given me so much inspiration! Thank you!

Hi Rebecca! I’ve just recently discovered your blog and I want to commend you for your confidence and love of life and fashion! You’re also very inspiring to us plus girls! There’s so much negativity surrounding being plus-size and it can drag you down, so I’m glad I, along with many others, have found your inspiring and comforting voice.

Hola Rebecca! I really love your blog and your work. As a former model/victim of petty materialistic aestheticism, I suffered from low-self esteem and major body dysmorphia. Fortunately I’ve come a very long way since then. Everyone is a unique and wonderful shape and they should be proud of it. Diversity is a good thing it makes the world interesting. Fashion isn’t a monoculture. There’s far too much creativity for it to be. Anyway long winded story short, you’re gorgeous, the end. But don’t just take my word for it, because if you already believe that to be true then that’s all that matters. :)

    Hi Rebecca,

I just found your blog and I am so excited to follow you on your journey. I have been following thin bloggers for quite some time and I always found myself feeling just a tad bit worse than when I started simply because I know I don’t look like them. You spoke to me when I read that you decided to wear clothing other than jeans and t-shirts. That’s exactly where I am in my life. I pretty much wear jeans and black tshirts or polos. How awful!! I am a 26-28 bottom and 28-30 top. I would love if you could recommend plus size stores that carry my sizes. I am ready to break out of this style shell that I have been in for 33 years.

    Junetta

    • April 14, 2013 6:53 am

Hey Junetta! Thanks for your comment :) the stores I’ll post her go up to at least a 28 and most have up to 32 or higher. There are few physical plus size stores, but good ones are Lane Bryant, Torrid, and Avenue. Online there is simplybe.com, evansusa.com, oldnavy.com, swakdesigns.com, onestopplus.com, makingitbig.com, kiyonna.com, igigi.com, and cultofca.com. Feel free to send me an email if you have questions about any of these sites!
