When I was younger, I always disliked winter because my everyday wardrobe consisted of sweatshirts and a bulky winter coat that made me look like a box. It wasn’t until I was in college that I realized winter accessories can be fashionable. I’ve been wanting a white trench for the past couple of years, and finally, after some contemplation, I got the Old Navy trench coat in white.
The coat feels pretty luxurious for a bargain price. It’s lined with a silky fabric and comes with an attachable fur collar. I’ve had the sleeves shortened sightly, and I am considering having the hem taken up, but I am only 5’4″, so it’s not surprising that the coat was too long for me. I went sans fur today, because I wanted to use the beautiful O by Oscar de la Renta scarf that I won from Fashion, Love, and Martinis! I loved the vibrant colors in the scarf, so I went with a muted bag by Aldo. The pop of color of the scarf really stands out.
Under the coat, I wore another pair of those Old Navy jeggings and a deep purple top from Gap Outlet (where I used to work!).
Although this picture wreaks of cheesy catalog pose, I wanted to show the open neckline of my shirt (which appears black, but is a deep plum). It also has sleeves that lay very close to the wrist, which I LOVE because I dislike floppy long-sleeves around my wrists. If you work with the top enough, you can also get an off the shoulder effect.
FYI: Although Gap only sells though XL in-store (XXL on-line), Gap Outlet carries through XXL in-store. Check it out. I always find great things and I wear a 22/24/26 top!
Old Navy is offering 20% off right now (ONSAVE20) and FREE shipping on orders over $50.
I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. Check back in soon as I show you the rest of my wonderful collection of coats and jackets.
