I hope you all had a wonderful New Year’s Eve and day! Last night I got together with some friends to go have dinner and drinks at an Irish pub in uptown Charlotte. I loved looking around the table and seeing that I was surrounded by such great long-time friends (two I’ve known since I was a pre-teen!), especially since we have all gone in such different directions and managed to keep close. I decided to deviate from the typical sequin NYE get up (although you know I love some sequins), and went with a comfortable look that tried to be both casual and appropriate for going out at night.
Evans seemed to be the brand of the night! I rolled up and ironed cuffs into my red jeans and added the polka dot top because it’s fun and comfortable. I kept my accessories simple with my trusty suede heels, Olivia + Joy bag, and necklace turned bracelet. I took the necklace I showed in this post and doubled it to make a bracelet. I love that it has two different link styles. (Sorry about the blurry photo. My camera battery proceeded to die immediate after the next photo.)
It was one of the more fun NYE I’ve had in a looonng time! Of course, I’m still an old lady, so I was asleep by 12:30. Ending and beginning a year in such a positive way was definitely a good start to this next year. A special thanks to my friends for being such loving, supportive, and positive people :).
How was your NYE?
Aw, you look so cute! I have to tell you, I feel like I am literally “stalking” your style. I’m a teacher and so much of what you wear has that great “I’m professional, yet fashionable, yet casual enough to be in a classroom with kids” look. And, it looks effortless!! I’m such a fan.. . And, so glad I found your blog.
Thanks Amy! I think you hit my style on the head! Since I work part-time at my university, I definitely have to balance being young, professional, and not too dressed up! I’m glad you found me too, and I look forward to getting to know you!
I absolutely love that top! It is very “me” 🙂 Happy New Year!

I’ll definitely check it out! I’ve been great! You?
This may sound completely random, but I love the painting in the first picture of the cat curled up on the chair. It reminds me a lot of me and my tastes — do you know where you found that painting?
