I can tell it’s the first week of school because I already feel like I’m way behind on the work I need to do, and I haven’t had time to take a single photo of my outfits (let alone put much thought into them!). I know a lot of people who plan their outfits the night before–something I have never done–and I’m starting to think that if I’m going to survive this semester while keeping up my blog, I’m going to have to surrender to being better prepared and organized.

So what have I been up to during my first week of school?

Well… I’ve been pretending to be organized by purchasing and filling out my new wall calendar and day planner.

Day planner is made from repurposed vintage books, and my cover has the cutest print complete with gazebos and donkeys (lol).

Buying buttons and turning them into rings.

My first batch had some wobble to them, but I figured it out once I was 15 rings in. I love these DIY button rings because I can use adjustable ring bands and make them any size. Wanna learn how to do them? Head on over to Glitter ‘N Glue. Want to find cute buttons? My personal fave shop is Peach Parlor.

The most exciting thing about a new semester? New school supplies.

One of my favorite quotes ever from You’ve Got Mail is “I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.”

If a guy ever sends me a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils, you can bet I’ll marry him.

Between all of my back-to-school meetings, tutoring hours, and class meetings, I snuggle with Lola because she always makes me feel better.

What have you been up to this week?

P.S. Helllllllooooo to all of the new readers, commentors, subscribers! You’re feedback in the recent couple weeks has been amazing, and I’m enjoying getting to talk to you through Twitter and your blogs (if you have one). If you haven’t added me on twitter yet, get on it (@theplussideofme)! I love to chat and connect with people over there 🙂

  1. LOVE the button rings! There is something about beginning a new semister at school, new classes and a new beginning. You are not behind yet! haha. I know you will get your stride and look good as you walk into your classes with your unique style and your perky self.

  2. I remember being in school. I too loved the start of a new semester because of the school supplies. Even after being done with school, I still look at the September store ads to check out what was new in the way of notepads and pens. I don’t think I will every outgrow the love of a brand new pen or notebook.

As for the button rings… LOVE the idea! I’ll need to give that a try one day. Be sure to note your own creations when posting future outfit pictures. 🙂
