Guys….this dress. This dress! As soon as I put it on I felt like I had let out my alter ego, who is much more sassy and flirty than my usual self. I basically walked around looking like the heart-eyed emoji while wearing Kiyonna’s Whimsy Wrap Dress.

160x160x7-smiling-face-with-heart-shaped-eyes.png.pagespeed.ic.On6Pm-wTdvIt’s not often that I find a dress that fits my shape so well. I’m what most plus size companies would consider as “pear shaped”, but I tend to think of myself as slightly Yoshi-esque since my backside sits out like a shelf. The weight of the fabric, the location of the wrap, and the flirty hem all came together to make a wonderful fit for me.

I paired the dress with Nine West Outlet gold jeweled sandals, this beautiful cuff bracelet from asos, and jade green earrings (seen in first image)

Something that I love about being in Kiyonna’s Blogger Brigade is how much they really want the customer to see their designs on lots of different sizes, shapes, etc. You can see other women wearing this dress in the right hand set of images on the product’s page here.

What do you think of the look? How would you style this dress?

  1. I LOVE THIS DRESS ON YOU! I also love the fact that Kiyonna puts pictures of real customers on their site so that I can get a sense of how the dress might look and fit on me. Models are great but a tall, evenly proportioned size 12 or 14 is a whole different ball of wax from me. LOL

I’d probably rock that dress with a dangly earring or a coordinating statement necklace. Either that or very subdued metal hoops and a fun printed purse. While I love the look of heels my feet don’t love the feel so my shoe game would be pretty similar to yours only I might do a wedge or a flat with wider straps and more coverage. So many possibilities!

  2. That dress is so pretty and looks amazing in you! Love how you describe your shape 🙂

  3. Yowza!! I love this on you and the color is gorgeous! I am actually thinking of ordering one for myself. Just lovely.

  4. I love your blog, I’ve been reading it for a long time now and I love that your referred to your backside as a ‘shelf’! I do it all the time, I thought I was the only person who said that! That dress is gorgeous on you, I love the bloggers on Kiyonna so that I might see how something would fit on me.

  5. Absolutely lovely, kiddo. You’re a beautiful young lady and I am proud of your work. Keep rocking it.

  6. Isn’t it amazing how you just feel so much better when you’re wearing something you love? Not only is the dress gorgeous but the color is perfect for you! And btw, be glad you have that shelf. My poor butt’s kinda flat. =)

  7. I am new to your blog, but damnit I want this dress. It looks amazing on you. Thing is, I live in the UK, so am going to have to pay oversea’s postage 🙁 But really want this.

I love the turquoise-y/green bracelet with it, totally works with the gorgeous pink, they set each other off really well.

      1. Thank you Rebecca! But I follow the link and now I see SO many dresses I want to buy 😉

Re the bracelet, I’d never have thought of putting the two together, but it totally works, and they enhance each other. At the mo my fav combo is green and purple together, pastel – block coloring – tye dying, I love those two together it.

Estarei sempre aqui pra ver as novidades. Beijus de uma brasileira!!!!

  9. You look gorgeous!! I found your blog by searching for this specific dress, because I’m trying to figure out what size to order. I have some idea in my head that Kiyonna runs large… We look to be pretty close to body twins, except my breasts are smaller. Do you think the top would have been too large and not cute if you didn’t have the chest to fill it out so well? I wear 26-28 on top and 28/30 on bottom and a 4 in Torrid dresses. Sorry for all the details and invasive questions – I just don’t know what size to order!

    1. Laura, it sounds like we wear the exact same size! I think you would be fine in this dress. In my pictures you can see how the sleeve was pulling a little bit near the bust, so a smaller bust might work even better with this dress. I got this in Kiyonna’s size 4.

  10. I know I’m late on this, but I wandered down a web wormhole and have to say you look gorgeous! That dress is amazing on you. Pardon the indelicate question, but do you know what kind of bra you were wearing? I’d love to give my silhouette the same sort of oomph. Thank you for posting!

  11. Hi, I hope this is a safe question to ask but, do you wear shapers under these kind of dresses? I’m looking for a dress for a wedding but it’s hard to find a dress when I’m a size 26, 5’7″ but more of a B to C size bra cup.

    1. Hey, yea, it’s fine to ask! I sometimes do wear shapers. If I want more smoothness I will wear one from Cacique at Lane Bryant. I also sometimes wear one from Catherine’s that doesn’t shape at all but does have shorts. Most Kiyonna dresses are made from a fabric that lays smoothly. I probably don’t change much of what it looks like with a shaper. The whimsy dress was a lighter/thinner fabric from
All the other ones I’ve worn, so keep that in mind if you are thinking of this design. Are you concerned about smoothness? Or fit? I can give you more details of my experience if you end up needing them!
