Hello! I’m Rebecca, and I am a 28-year-old writing instructor. My love of writing led me to blogs, which led me to a wonderful group of women carving a space for themselves on the internet. The fatshion blogging community has opened my eyes to the confidence, power, and joy in embracing yourself as you are. I’m so excited to offer my voice here, whether it ends up being a soft echo or a loud roar. I am interested in all things involving plus-size/fatshion clothing, beauty products, and fat/body acceptance.

Please feel free to contact me via twitter or my e-mail to chat 🙂

I’m so excited to have found your blog–I’m a UNC student and I’m usually reading blogs from girls who aren’t from NC! What a great thing you are doing here. Keep it up!

    • February 6, 2012 3:07 pm

Hey Jess! That’s so exciting! I rarely meet people from NC, and they are always in different cities than me. I’m hoping to do some type of event over the summer in Charlotte, so keep your eyes peeled for it and hopefully you can make a trip or something 🙂

hi ! i´m an Austrian student, 21 years old ans i have size S (36) ! I really love your style and the way you mix your clothes ! Really great ! I know it´s not very easy for a plus size woman to find nice things to wear but you really do a great job ! For my opinion, you are one of the best dressed persons and your style is awesome.

    best wishes,

    Hi there,

I’m not plus size (far from it) but I think your blog is the one of the ‘chic’est and most interesting that I’ve read thus far!

I wish you will with your academic/professional endeavours.

    • April 12, 2012 9:16 pm

Thank you, J! I definitely encourage you to promote body positivity as she grows up. I know that the things my mom says about me mean way more than the rest of the world 🙂

I agree with all of the above. The picture that you chose for this page is fantastic, and I love the gold/black combo.

Thought I’d ask if you’ve ever heard of I’ve been following them on FB for a while, and the clothes are amazing. I’m enjoying your blog!

Well I know it must be flattering to know that I spent half a day reading all your blog and checking out your fashion statements you have made for yourself. Its a damn shame you live 2 states under me because I would scoop you up in a heart beat. Absolutely stunning! You really got it going on 🙂 Perhaps one day I may be blessed with the privilege to take you out sometime, if I’m lucky 😉

Hi! I’m from Brazil, but i’m living in Los Angeles for about two years now. I’ve always felt misfitted and different from everyone else since i’m plus size, but it was after finding blogs like yours and “A Well-Rounded Venture” that I figured it out that I can be beautiful and powerful in my own body. I read your blog for months now, but it was only today that I decided to read the “About” and it makes me smile that you say “The fatshion blogging community has opened my eyes to the confidence, power, and joy in embracing yourself as you are.” because that is exactly what happened to me! Sorry for my bad english and thank you 🙂

    • July 26, 2012 9:50 pm

Yes! A lot of women have experienced what you are going through. Believe me, I still struggle some times, but seeing other women looking fabulous reminds me that it’s about attitude and not our bodies 🙂

  17. August 15, 2012 6:52 pm

Hi Rebecca! I’ve just recently discovered your blog and I want to commend you for your confidence and love of life and fashion! You’re also very inspiring to us plus girls! There’s so much negativity surrounding being plus-size and it can drag you down, so I’m glad I, along with many others, have found your inspiring and comforting voice.

  18. November 10, 2012 1:31 pm

Hola Rebecca! I really love your blog and your work. As a former model/victim of petty materialistic aestheticism, I suffered from low-self esteem and major body dysmorphia. Fortunately I’ve come a very long way since then. Everyone is a unique and wonderful shape and they should be proud of it. Diversity is a good thing it makes the world interesting. Fashion isn’t a monoculture. There’s far too much creativity for it to be. Anyway long winded story short, you’re gorgeous, the end. But don’t just take my word for it, because if you already believe that to be true then that’s all that matters. 🙂

    Hi Rebecca,

I just found your blog and I am so excited to follow you on your journey. I have been following thin bloggers for quite some time and I always found myself feeling just a tad bit worse than when I started simply because I know I don’t look like them. You spoke to me when I read that you decided to wear clothing other than jeans and t-shirts. That’s exactly where I am in my life. I pretty much wear jeans and black tshirts or polos. How awful!! I am a 26-28 bottom and 28-30 top. I would love if you could recommend plus size stores that carry my sizes. I am ready to break out of this style shell that I have been in for 33 years.

    • April 14, 2013 6:53 am

Hey Junetta! Thanks for your comment 🙂 the stores I’ll post her go up to at least a 28 and most have up to 32 or higher. There are few physical plus size stores, but good ones are Lane Bryant, Torrid, and Avenue. Online there is,,,,,,,, and Feel free to send me an email if you have questions about any of these sites!

    Hi there,
I’ve only just discovered you, and plus sized fashion blogging in general. I’m so inspired. I’ve been plus sized my entire adult life, and there is so little in stores (I’m in Australia) for us. Add to that the fact that I’m also 6ft tall and it makes it that much harder. Thank you so much for what you do, I feel there is hope for me to get out there and find nice clothing!

I am currently writing my dissertation and it is based on plus-size fashion. Basically I am investigating the availability of plus-size clothing and if the market is finally being catered to by retailers. However, the question is rather controversial and asks if the promotion of plus size clothing affects the plus-size consumers overall well being. So far, this has been proved wrong through secondary research and through focus groups I have conducted. I was wondering if you could answer a 5 minute questionnaire as a part of this research that will help further investigate the plus-size market and the affects it is having on consumers.
    Kind Regards,
    P.s great blog x

Question 1: Tell us who you are, what your favourite brand is and why?
Question 2: Do you think there is a lot of choice out there for the plus size consumer both on the high-street and online?
Question 3: Can you think of any campaigns involving plus-size brands?
Question 4: Simply Be is a plus size brand that offers stylish clothing ‘exclusively’ to sizes 14-32 women. Do you think this is a positive portrayal of plus size?
Question 5. Retailer Evans sponsored London plus-size fashion weekend in February, what are your initial thoughts on this?
Question 6: Do you think you are easily influenced by advertisements in the media?
Exercise 3/Question 7: (Images of Debenhams size 16 mannequins are shown) What are your opinions on the size 16 mannequins Debenhams have recently added to their store?
Question 8: What are your general impressions of the styles available in plus size?
Question 9: Do you have difficulties finding styles you like that fit well?
Question 10: Obesity is on the rise in the UK. Do you think retailers are influencing obesity rates by providing more plus size ranges than ever before?
